Professional Engineer

Jon took his Professional Engineer test in October after 2 months of round the clock studying (or at least it seemed like it). Well we just found out tonight that he passed it!!! He was headed to a church meeting when I was checking email and saw the results were in. I called him to see if he wanted to wait and be here or if he wanted me to open it. He said "OPEN IT!!!" So I had to click on the link, sign in, push the button to have the results emailed to us, wait for the email, open the email and then open the attachment. He said "Are you working on it?" Finally we got to the page that said CONGRATULATIONS you passed. What a great day for our family. He has been working towards this for a long time. Great job Jon!

Four wheelin

Carter was kind enough to bring Hannah for a ride on his four wheeler the other day. She doesn't look like she was enjoying it but anytime I have him stop to straighten her up or see if she wanted to get off she held on with all she could. She loved it.

Temple trip

Cater went one a temple trip with his Primary group a couple of weeks ago. He heard we were going there and he asked if it was because he was going to marry me. I told him that I was already married to Daddy. He didn't like that but he went anyways.

Thanksgiving crafts

These crafts have been made by Carter at his preschool and at his speech class. he has on an Indian vest, a turkey placemat, a turkey centerpiece and a pilgram hat.

Christmas decorations

These pictures are for everyone but have been requested by Grandma and Grandpa at the farm.

Family picture shoot

We tried a new place (for us) this year for family pictures. They were alright. The kids did great and Jon stayed happy even though I unknowingly scheduled the appointment during both the USC game and the BYU game. What a great husband. Well most of you will be getting one or some of these in the upcoming months. Enjoy the movie.

Testimony

On this past Sunday the councilor conducting the meeting said that it was time for those who wanted to share their testimony to come forward. Carter said to Jon, "Daddy it is your turn because you have a testimony." So Jon decided that if there was a break then he would go up on the stand. (I was out in the foyer with Hannah because she was being a royal pain) So a break never came but Jon asked Carter what he would say if he was to go up and bear his testimony. Carter didn't really know so they talked about it a little bit. Well Monday on the way home from work I asked Carter if I had a testimony and he said no. Then I asked him if he had a testimony and he said no. So I asked if Daddy had a testimony and he said yes. When I asked him how did he know that he said...
"You said Daddy couldn't play with me because he was studying for his testimony."
Well Jon has been studying for the past 2 months for his Professional Engineer test. I guess test and testimony just sound too closely to the same thing for a 4 year old. I guess I know what next weeks Family Home Evening is going to be on.

Jon has taken his test last week and now we wait for 8-12 weeks for the results. We will be sure to share the news when he passes (trying to be optimistic)

Halloween 2009

Carter and I went to his Fall Festival at his preschool. They had lots of games to play, a train, horse rides, jumpy castle and face painting. He liked the games where the people let you pick your own candy after the game. He rode the train but didn't want to go on it a second time because there was no candy that went along with it. They started with a parade of costumes but i was too busy waving to him trying to have him see me to get his picture in it but here he is after the parade.

He also decorated a pumpkin that was on display. It is the doggie one that is on the top row in the middle. He had the idea and glued the pieces on...well mostly he did it.

And then here is Carter and Hannah at our church trunk or treat. The second picture is showing off Hannah's tail.

Hannah's Birthday

Hannah and Nathan had a combined birthday party this year since their birthdays are only a week apart. They both had their own small cake. You can see how well Hannah liked hers.

She also got some great presents and had wonderful help opening them.

It was a great birthday!

Myrtle beach trip

This weekend we went to Myrtle Beach for my company banquet. It was a quick trip as we had to get back for church since Jon doesn't have any councilors yet. We arrived Friday night and stopped on the way into town at Broadway at the beach and ate a wonderful meal. Carter and I headed to the water while Hannah got settled. He didn't want to get into the water but he already started collecting shells. Saturday morning we were up early and out on the beach. Hannah loved it more than we would have imagined. She crawled and crawled all over. She would stop and try to eat some sand or a shell and then keep crawling. There was a small area on the beach that gets filled up when the tide is in and stayed somewhat full while the tide is out. That was her spot. We brought Jon's niece Kayla with us as a helper and in room babysitter during the banquet and she was a great helper.

After some time on the beach we headed to one of the pools and then onto the water park that is in the group of hotels. The kids played and played. Jon finally headed back to the room with Hannah and before he even walked a portion of the way back to the hotel room she was out. Carter on the other hand would not have ever left if we didn't make him. We got back late last night or this morning depending how you look at it. Over all it was quick but a fun way to end another summer.

She didn't seem to care how deep it was

First day of school

Carter's school started September 8th. We had gone the week before to meet his teachers and that went well so I had little concern for him being okay and left me to be concerned with me being okay with my baby boy growing up. He was very excited but agreed to stop for a picture at the sign.

Then we found the classroom with the yellow bear.

And then he sat down to color his first masterpiece.

His class has 16 children in it and 11 of them are girls. The teachers decided to expand the art center because of all of the girls they had this year. He has had a great day every day so far but he has yet to tell us anything of what he does at school other than play in the playground. I am glad that he likes it and looks forward to it every day.
Bad mother confession-I had put Hannah in her stroller so I would have free hands to take pictures. We had gotten into his classroom and I was busy helping Carter get to a seat and start coloring when I heard a baby crying and I thought "Someone should help their baby". Well it was mine and I quickly realized the teacher was telling Hannah that I would be right back. She was 12 feet from me but for Hannah that might was well be miles. Maybe I will forget that by the time she is old enough to share it with her.

Trip to the farm and county fair

We all went to NY recently to see Grandma and Grandpa, the tractors and the fair. It was fun but too short as usual. We watched tractor pulls and Carter enjoyed them more than I thought he would. He also enjoyed the rides and of course some cousin bonding time.

Hannah did more than sleep but it is the only picture I took of her on the trip.

Cuteness

I wanted to take a second and share the picture I have on my computer at work that is a guaranteed smile when I look at it during the day. She turns 11 months old today. We are so lucky to have her in our lives.

Hannah's nine month check up

Hannah went for her nine month well visit today. She had broken out in a rash last night which was nice of her to do since we were going to be at the doctors in the morning. The doctor said it is probably a viral rash but overall was not worried about it. Hannah checked out from head to toe. She weighs 19 1/2 pounds (64th percentile), head it 45 cm (82nd percentile) and is 27 inches tall (35th percentile). It was good to hear of her length because last time she was only 10th percentile and so either their measurement was off or she hit her growth spurt after that. She is eating more and more "real" food every day. She has just started pulling herself up onto things but is a bit wobbly when she gets there. The time has flown and we are already discussing the possibility of added more to our family. Craziness!

Birthday party

Carter went to his first "friend" birthday party today. It was at the childrens museum. He had a great time.

Talia's Birthday party

Here are some pictures of last weeks birthday party. I had brought a sheet to put Hannah on but she learned very quickly that she could pull the blanket up and get to the dirt and grass that she wanted to eat.

Carter didn't get out of the water much. He just kicked and kick around on the lake on the raft.

Hannah and Uncle Chris tuckered out at the same time so they snoozed in the shade.

Hannah enjoyed her first pizza crust at the party. She liked it just as much as the dirt. Silly girl.

Starting early

Showing her team spirit early in life.

Teething cookies

I love these teething cookies. I remember them from when Carter was this age.

Well Hannah has started eating them. She only gets them on bath nights for obvious reasons.

He will love this more when he is older

Carter was coming from or going to church on Sunday while in Charleston and I looked back to find this so I had to capture it. His wife will love this one some day.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great long weekend. We started the weekend with a picnic with Mama and Papa at Hampton Park in Charleston by the Citadel. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed chicken salad sandwiches, chips, cookies and fruit. We were there all day. Carter made a friend who shared his bike with Carter and there was a tree that we couldn't keep Carter out of. He managed to climb up in it himself a few times. He also had some help.
Hannah also enjoyed some time on the grass and with her Dad.

The men also had fun feeding the ducks, fish, a turtle and the birds.

On Monday we went to the beach with my brother and family and a couple of my sister-in-laws coworkers and their kids. It was a good time. This picture was right after she woke up from her nap and right before we moved her seat to be in the shade a bit more.

Carter loves the sand 100 times more than the water. Luck for his, he has some great helpers to build castles and get water for the motes.
